So good! I appreciate this perspective. I think a good number of Christians carry a heavy burden. I’ve talked to some who feel fear & constantly wondering about salvation & obsessing over sin. They focus more on behavior modification than the heart of what they are going through. I’ve even fallen into this trap.

Such a good reminder! Delighting in the Lord💕

Thank you Alex!

And if you wanna see someone who had to struggle with this for a long time before understanding, then look no further than me.

Glad that this resonated with you!

God bless.

Cole, what a word🔥🔥🔥.

Holiness is the byproduct of abiding in the Vine. I love your connection to the Song of Songs, which further demonstrates that our relationship with the Lord is fragrant and flourishing, and I love your word—intoxicating.

As I read, I was reminded of Peter's words: “For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬.

The work is finished. We are the righteousness of God in Christ. The Spirit of Holiness is at work in us to produce the peaceable fruit of His divine nature as we rest and abide in the truth.

Sanctification is often construed as a sort of penance, but as you’ve so beautifully described, it is our inheritance—a lovely one, indeed.

Wonderful post!

This is beautiful, Cole. It blends perfectly with the Greatest Commandment—love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Holiness was never meant to be a burden we carry, but a beauty we behold. When love leads, obedience follows—not as duty, but desire. Thanks for sharing!

This is enlightening! Thank you for sharing.

Recently, I have been thinking obeying God is not so easy but very important and in those moments I started feeling heavy from all the do's and don't's... Now, I know better

If I continually stay captivated by His love, then my actions will naturally flow in alignment with the desires of His heart for me.

Thank you!

Amen. And you. Always.

It is true that somehow we need to love our enemies for love is clearly what they lack.

It is a difficult path but the only one worthy.

How can we love if hate, spite and greed is all we get in return?

This question plagues me and so many others.

We can love and forgive only if that love and that forgiveness is unconditional and encompasses everything and everybody. It is a matter of the Spirit. The moment we start saying I can forgive you provided you...is when we are not genuine. But even Christ Jesus got angry for instance when He cleared the temple of the money changers and set the caged animals free. I actually love that passage. Greed is so unclean spriritually. And unworthy. Maybe those who suffer from it already carry around their own spiritual punishment, i.e the inability to love from the heart, only from the wallet. I don´t wish them bad but I do understand how sinful they are towards God and His Spirit that they themselves are part of insofar as they came to this world through Him. In this perspective they are actually committing suicide spiritually. THAT is poverty.

Well said. Your post made me think of one of my favorite verses from the Message version: We ask you—urge is more like it—that you keep on doing what we told you to do to please God, not in a dogged religious plod, but in a living, spirited dance (1 Thess. 4:2). That's how to be holy!

Since joy is part of the fruit of the Spirit, white-knuckle faking it for a few hours each week for the alleged benefit of self and other churchgoing white-knucklers is not only delusional, it's wicked.

In this same vein, if anyone has not read Thomas Chalmers' "The Expulsive Power of a New Affection," I highly recommend it. Free pdf at, e.g., https://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/sdg/Chalmers,%20Thomas%20-%20The%20Exlpulsive%20Power%20of%20a%20New%20Af.pdf
